Round Robin Games Hit their Halfway Mark

The 2015 Canadian Little League Championship is in the home stretch. With Day Four over, half of the round robin games have now come and gone.

In the opener today, the Glace Bay McDonald’s Colonels managed to come out on top of a high scoring affair with the NDG Lynx, winning 20-14. #18 Jarrett Hicks was credited with the win, after pitching three innings. The Colonel’s had three homers in the game, two from #26 Liam Burke and one from #29 Parker Hanrahan. Burke and Hanrahan had 3 RBIs each. From the Lynx, #48 Justin Ricci and #58 Giancarlo Barrafato had 3 RBIs as well.

The matinee game saw the undefeated High Park Braves extend their streak with a 10-2 win over the Moose Jaw AAA All-Stars. #10 Samuel Dumper was the winning pitcher, and also had 3 RBIs. For Moose Jaw, #21 Rylan Watson had the only one over the fence in the game to go along with his 2 RBIs.

The East Nepean Eagles also extended their unbeaten streak today with a 5-2 win over the Lethbridge SWLL Red Giants. #13 Ben Adams was credited with the win. #12 Tristan Godmaire had his first home run of the tournament.

After twelve games, here are the standings:

White Rock’s #15 Matthew Wilkinson is leading the tournament with a .778 batting average. The Braves #25 David Gucciardi is on top of home runs with 3. The Eagles are leading is pitching, with #9 Michael Stremlaw credited with 2 wins, and #13 Ben Adams with an impressive 16 strikeouts.

The games continue tomorrow at 12 pm, 3 pm and 6 pm. White Rock takes on Moose Jaw, the Braves will look to tie the Eagles in first place as they battle the Lynx and the Eagles rest, and the Colonels will play the Red Giants.
