With less than a month to go until the highly anticipated 2015 Canadian Little League Championship, the final pieces are all coming together. The big announcement from recent weeks is the host club East Nepean Little League releasing their roster.
The team will be lead by Head Coach Mike Crepin and his assistants Dan Bellinni, Mark Keeping and Karim Oliver. The players are: Alex Hum, Riley Maude, Adam Saleh, Matteo Disipio, Jake Calder, Michael Stremlaw, Evan Stucker, Nicholas Pileggi, Tristan Godmaire, Ben Adams, Jayden Oliver, Ben Anderson, and Andre Bess.
One of the biggest events of the tournament will be the Champions Dinner with special guest and ex-Blue Jay Robbie Alomar. Tickets are now on sale for the event at the tournaments website. Tickets will not be sold at the door. They are $40 each and are expected to go fast. The dinner will take place at Algonquin College on August 13th.
Finally, with an event as big as the Championship, the tournament needs as much help as it can get. The Organizing Committee is still looking for volunteers to help with such tasks baseball park set-up and teardown, organization of ceremonial activities, parking control, 50/50 sales, selling merchandise, help with the BBQ tent among many others.
Another way to volunteer and help make this week the best it can be is billeting. With over a hundred 11 and 12 year olds coming into the Barrhaven area, families who are willing to open their homes must take a minimum of two players for the duration of the tournament. Breakfast and dinner must be provided, as well as transportation and laundry. There will be incentives for the parents who are able to help these kids come to Ottawa and fight for National gold.
The tournament is a very large commitment, with lots of tasks to be fulfilled. Any help that can be offered will be appreciated by East Nepean Little League and the Little League Championship.
