With only days until the 2015 Canadian Little League Championships are underway, the emphasis to kick off the tournament is on the Opening Ceremonies.
On Friday, August 7th, the festivities will kick off at 4:45pm. Just like the rest of the tournament this event is free, and open to the public. The host team East Nepean Eagles playing their first game against the winning club from the Atlantic Division will follow at 6pm.
The Ceremonies will get underway with a concert by the Band of the Ceremonial Guard, straight from Parliament Hill. This will include RCMP Corporal Craig Kennedy singing “O Canada.”
With the grateful assistance and participation of the Ottawa Aboriginal Coalition, under the leadership of Mr. Marc Maracle and Ms. Wendy Lanouette, the players will parade onto the field to the beat of an aboriginal drum ceremony and be led by a group of native Canadian dancers. We thank Chief Dan Brant for his generosity in helping to make this happen.
There will be food and Championship merchandise for sale, so come out for dinner and watch this historic event get underway.
